Description: MtnGoatMineralLick [MGML] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing sites of Mineral Licks used by Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Mineral Licks are defined as specific natural sites known to be utilized as lick areas by Mountain Goats. MtnGoatConcentrationArea [MGCA] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing Concentration Areas for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Concentration areas are defined as those parts of the overall range where goat densities are at least 200% greater than the surrounding area. MtnGoatMigrationCorridors [MGMC] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing Migration Patterns for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Migration Patterns are defined as a subjective indication of the general movements of migratory Mountain Goat herds. MtnGoatOverallRange [MGOV] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing the Overall Range for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Overall Range is defined as an area which encompasses all known seasonal activity areas within the observed range of a population of Mountain Goats. MtnGoatProductionArea [MGPA] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing Production Areas for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Production Areas are defined as that part of the home range of a species occupied by females during a specific period of Spring. This period is May 15 to June 30 for Mountain Goats. MtnGoatSummerRange [MGSR] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing the Summer Range for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Summer Range is defined as that part of the home range of Mountain Goats where 90% of the individuals are located during the summer. The range may overlap winter range in some instances. Summer Range will include what has traditionally been known as Spring and Fall transitional ranges.MtnGoatWinterRange [MGWR] is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing the Winter Range for Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) in Colorado. Winter Range is defined as that part of the overall range of Mountain Goats where 90% of individuals are located during the average five winters out of ten from the first heavy snowfall to Spring green-up or during a site-specific period of winter as defined for each management unit. This information was derived from field personnel. A variety of data capture techniques were used including drawing on mylar overlays at 1:50,000 scale USGS county mapsheets and implementation of the SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard using stand-up, real-time digitizing at various scales (Cowardin, M., M. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld 16(3):32-35).
